Itinerary

Day 1. Bishkek city – Ala-Archa National Park – Bishkek city

We’ll pick you up at in the morning from your chosen spot in Bishkek, like a hotel or airport.

Our plan for today is to go to Ala Archa National Park, a beautiful place known for picnics and walks, surrounded by 20 glaciers. You can take a relaxed walk by the river or choose to hike up the mountains for an amazing valley view.

After our time at Ala Archa, we’ll return to Bishkek for lunch. Then, we’ll tour Bishkek, visiting landmarks such as the Manas, Kurmanjan Datka, and Lenin statues, Oak Park, the Opera and Ballet Theater, Victory Square, and important government buildings like the Parliament and the White House.

Our day will end with dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2. Bishkek city - Burana Tower - Chon-Kemin valley

After having breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off to visit the Burana Tower. This tower, along with grave markers, ancient earthworks are all that remains of the ancient city of Balasagun. This city was established by the Karakhanids between the late 11th and 13th centuries.

You’ll also get the opportunity to explore a small museum there. Additionally, you’ll see Balbals, ancient stone markers used for graves.

Following that, we’ll travel to the Chon-Kemin valley, where we’ll have lunch at a guesthouse. Afterward, we’ll engage in horseback riding and soak in the tranquil surroundings. To end our day, we’ll have dinner and spend the night in a guesthouse with a local family.

Day 3. Chon-Kemin valley - Ak-Sai Canyons - Shatyly panorama - Bokonbaevo village

Today, after breakfast, we’ll go to the Ak-Sai canyons and hike for about 15-20 minutes to a spot with amazing views of Issyk Kul Lake and the canyons. We’ll take pictures and enjoy the scenery, then have lunch.

After that, we’ll head to the Boz-Salkyn gorge for a hike up to the Shatyly viewpoint. We’ll watch a beautiful sunset and see the stunning Issyk-Kul lake. The hike will take about 1 to 1.5 hours. When we’re done, we’ll go back to Bokonbaev village for dinner and stay overnight in a yurt camp or a guesthouse.

Day 4. Bokonbaevo village - Mars Canyon - Barskoon waterfalls - Karakol town

After breakfast, we’ll go to Mars Canyon to explore the area and meet a local eagle hunter. He’ll show us how he hunts with his two eagles. Later, we’ll have lunch at a nearby café.

Next, we’ll travel to Barskoon waterfalls for a short hike to one of the waterfalls, take photos, and then head to Karakol city. Then, we’ll stop at Djety-Oguz (Seven Oxes Red Rocks) on the way. In Karakol, we’ll have dinner at a traditional restaurant and stay overnight.

Day 5. Karakol town - Kayaking - Hot Springs - Karakol town

After breakfast, we’ll go to Issyk Kul lake for kayaking. We’ll paddle for about 1-1.5 hours, surrounded by stunning nature.

Later, we’ll come back to Karakol for lunch. Then, we’ll tour Karakol, visiting places like explorer Prjevalsky’s memorial, a Dungan mosque, and a Russian Orthodox church.

After, we’ll go to the Hot Springs in Ak-Suu, where you can relax by soaking in a pool of naturally warm water while being surrounded by mountains.

After that, we’ll visit a Dungan family for a traditional food show and dinner. The Dungans are Chinese Muslims who moved from China in the 1800s. We’ll spend the night in Karakol.

Day 6. Karakol town - Kok-Moynok canyon - Bishkek city

After breakfast, we’ll start our journey to Bishkek. Along the way, we’ll stop at Kok-Moynok Canyon to take beautiful photos and go for a short hike.

Later, we’ll visit a local café to enjoy traditional Kyrgyz Kattama with sour cream. Kattama is a tasty puff pastry with a crispy outside and a soft, juicy inside.

Upon arriving in Bishkek, we’ll have our final dinner at a traditional local restaurant.

Day 7. Bishkek city - Airport
After breakfast, we’ll meet at the hotel and then head to the airport. It’s time to say goodbye, and we hope to see you again soon!

Clothes & Equipment

You can bring everything you need. Remember that in the summer, Bishkek can get as hot as 40 degrees Celsius, and it can be as cold as minus 5 degrees Celsius in the mountains. Be ready for sudden changes in the weather.

Recommended:

  • Rain-coat
  • Waterproof pants
  • Sweater/fleece
  • Wind-stopper
  • Enough t-shirts and other underwear (think of taking smth with long sleeves to avoid sunburns)
  • Power bank (to charge devices)
  • Hat (remember – the sun can be violent)
  • Sun-screen cream (30 or higher)
  • Insect repellent (skin + clothes)
  • Good, waterproof trekking boots for easy hikes in the mountains.
  • Walking shoes (don’t need heavy ones) for the city walks
  • Personal first aid kit (most likely problems: blisters, sunburns, allergy, diarrhoea, sore muscles after hikes. Take painkillers, anti-histaminic, antibiotics of general action, and anything you need for your usual medical conditions).
  • Personal hygiene kit (disinfection gel is highly recommended) + some toilet paper.
  • A small towel
  • Swimming suit (for Issyk-Kul)
  • Sunglasses
  • A smaller backpack, except for your normal suitcase.
