Itinerary

Day 1. Bishkek City

Arrive in Bishkek at any time and meet at the hotel at 14:00 for check-in (if you arrive later, you can simply join the group upon arrival).

At 14:30, we’ll have a welcome meeting with the guide and the rest of the group.

Afterwards, we’ll start our Bishkek city tour. We’ll visit the National History Museum, Ala-Too Square, the Old White House, and Victory Square.

In the evening, we’ll have a welcome dinner at a traditional restaurant, where you can try Kyrgyz national cuisine.

Note: We highly recommend booking an extra night before the tour, as many international flights arrive in Bishkek late at night or early in the morning.

Day 2. Bishkek – Burana Tower – Son Kul Lake

After breakfast, we’ll visit the Burana Tower, a historic monument from the ancient city of Balasagun. You’ll see ancient stone statues called Balbals, archaeological remains, and a small museum.

Then, we’ll continue to Son Kul Lake, a beautiful alpine lake located at 3,016 meters above sea level. Surrounded by mountains and wide green pastures, Son Kul is one of the best places to experience the traditional nomadic lifestyle of Kyrgyzstan.

On the way, we’ll stop for lunch and try Kattama, a traditional Kyrgyz bread.

During summer, local families live in yurts and bring their horses and livestock to the pastures of Son Kul. You’ll have free time to explore the area, enjoy the peaceful scenery, and hike to nearby hills for panoramic views of the lake.
In the evening, we’ll join a cooking masterclass and learn how to make Boorsok, traditional Kyrgyz fried bread.

Day 3. Son Kul – Kok Kiya valley

After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a 2-hour horseback ride along the lake or up to a nearby viewpoint with beautiful panoramic views.

Then, we’ll drive to the remote Kok Kiya Valley, located near Kel Suu Lake. The journey takes several hours along mountain roads, with stops along the way for lunch, rest, and photos, including the scenic 33 Parrots Pass.

We’ll arrive in the late afternoon and check into our guesthouse or yurt camp.

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 4. Trekking to Kel Suu lake

Today, we’ll spend a full day exploring Kel Suu Lake, one of the hidden gems of Kyrgyzstan.

After breakfast, we’ll start our hike to Kel Suu Lake. The hike takes approximately 2.5 hours each way. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to explore the area and enjoy the impressive mountain scenery.

An optional boat ride on Kel Suu Lake is also available, offering a chance to see the lake and surrounding cliffs from a different perspective.

We’ll have a picnic lunch with an amazing view of the lake and some free time to relax.

In the late afternoon, we’ll hike back to our camp, where we’ll have dinner and rest after a full day of adventure.

Day 5. Kok Kiya – Kochkor Village

After breakfast, you’ll have around 3 hours of free time to enjoy the valley. You can go horseback riding (optional), hike in the nearby mountains, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

After lunch, we’ll start our drive to Kochkor village.

Upon arrival, we’ll check into a local family-run guesthouse and have dinner.

Day 6. Kochkor - Kyzyl Tuu - Ak Sai Canyon - Bokonbaevo - Issyk Kul Lake

After breakfast, we’ll drive toward Issyk Kul Lake, one of the largest alpine lakes in the world.

On the way, we’ll stop at Kyzyl Tuu village, famous for its traditional yurt-making. We’ll meet a local family of yurt masters who will show us how a traditional Kyrgyz yurt is made and explain the process. At the end, we’ll help them put a yurt together and learn more about this important part of Kyrgyz nomadic culture.
We’ll have lunch with the local family before continuing our journey.

Next, we’ll visit Ak Sai Canyon on the southern shore of Issyk Kul Lake. We’ll hike to a panoramic viewpoint with beautiful views of the canyon, surrounding mountains, and the lake.

Then, we’ll continue to Bokonbaevo village, where we’ll meet a local eagle hunter and watch a traditional golden eagle hunting demonstration.

Afterwards, we’ll drive to our yurt camp on the shore of Issyk Kul Lake. The rest of the day is free to relax by the lake, swim if the weather is good, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 7. Issyk Kul Lake – Skazka Canyon – Kok Jaiyk Valley

In the morning, we’ll visit Skazka Canyon, also known as Fairytale Canyon. We’ll walk through its unusual rock formations, enjoy the scenery, and have plenty of time for photos.

Next, we’ll drive toward Kok Jaiyk Valley, stopping for lunch along the way.

From there, we’ll enjoy a 2–3 hour round-trip horseback ride into the valley, where we can enjoy beautiful views of Oguz Bashy Peak if the weather is clear.

Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt camp.

Day 8. Kok Jaiyk – Jeti Oguz Rocks – Karakol town

After breakfast, we’ll take an approximately 1-hour hike to Devichi Kosy Waterfall, enjoying panoramic views of Kok Jaiyk Valley along the way.

Then, we’ll drive to Jeti Oguz Rocks and have lunch with views of its famous red rock formations.

In the afternoon, we’ll continue to Karakol, where we’ll visit the historic Dungan Mosque and Russian Orthodox Church. After the city tour, we’ll check into our hotel and have dinner at a local café.

The evening is free to relax and prepare for our 4-day Ala Kul trek starting the next morning.

Day 9. Karakol – Karakol Gorge – Sirota Camp (start of the 4-day hiking to Ala Kul lake)

Today, we begin our 4-day trek to Ala Kul Lake.
After breakfast, we’ll drive from Karakol to the trailhead in the beautiful Karakol Gorge. From there, we’ll start hiking through the valley, following the river and passing green slopes, spruce forests, and mountain pastures.

After lunch, we’ll continue uphill toward Sirota Camp, located at approximately 3,000 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival, we’ll settle into the camp and relax surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

Total drive: 20 km / ~30 minutes
Hiking: 12 km / ~4 hours (Ascent: +600m)

Day 10. Sirota Camp – Ala Kul Lake – Ala Kul Pass – Keldyke Valley

Today is the most challenging part of the trek.
We’ll hike uphill through rocky mountain terrain for approximately 3 hours until we reach Ala Kul Lake at around 3,500 meters above sea level.

This beautiful glacier-fed lake is famous for its bright turquoise water and dramatic mountain surroundings. We’ll have time to enjoy the views before continuing toward Ala Kul Pass at approximately 3,900 meters.

From the pass, you’ll have panoramic views of the surrounding peaks of the Terskey Ala-Too range and the Tian Shan Mountains.

We’ll then descend along a steep mountain trail into Keldyke Valley, where we’ll spend the night.

Hiking: 9 km / ~6.5 hours (Ascent: +850m)

Day 11. Keldyke Valley – Altyn Arashan Valley

After breakfast, we continue our trek toward Altyn Arashan Valley, passing through verdant mountain pastures and following the course of clear, rushing mountain rivers. The hike takes approximately 3–4 hours and includes a small stream crossing—an exciting moment on the trail.

Upon arrival at our yurt camp at around 2,450 meters, you’ll have time to relax and explore. Altyn Arashan translates to ‘Golden Spa’ and the valley is famous for its natural hot sulfur springs. After several days of trekking, you can enjoy a rejuvenating soak in the hot springs—a perfect remedy for tired muscles.

The combination of alpine scenery and thermal waters creates a magical evening as you unwind and prepare for your final night in the mountains.

Day 12. Altyn Arashan – Ak Suu Village – Karakol

In the morning, we begin our final hike toward Ak Suu village, approximately 4 hours away. The trail follows a beautiful river flowing through the valley, creating a peaceful and scenic descent. We pass through diverse mountain ecosystems before reaching Ak Suu village, where our driver meets us.

Then, we’ll visit another natural hot spring in Ak Suu, where you can relax after completing the hike. From the village, it’s a short 30-minute drive back to Karakol, where we check into our hotel to rest and recover after completing our magnificent 4-day Ala Kul trek. Tonight, you’ll sleep soundly in a comfortable bed, proud of your mountain accomplishment.

Day 13. Karakol – Grigorievka & Semenovka Gorges – Bishkek

After breakfast, we’ll leave Karakol and travel along the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake.

We’ll visit Grigorievka and Semenovka Gorges, two beautiful neighboring valleys with alpine scenery, forests, rivers, and open pastures.
We’ll also explore the nomad village built for the 2026 World Nomad Games and enjoy lunch surrounded by nature.

In the late afternoon, we’ll continue our journey to Bishkek. Upon arrival, we’ll visit a souvenir shop and then enjoy a farewell dinner together.

After dinner, we’ll check into our hotel for the final night of the tour.

Day 14. Bishkek

After breakfast at the hotel, you’re free to depart at any time depending on your flight schedule. Check-out is at 12:00.

Remember that in the summer, Bishkek can get as hot as 40 degrees Celsius, and it can be as cold as minus 5 degrees Celsius in the mountains. Be ready for sudden changes in the weather.
